Clinical Psychologist

Dr Simi Kaur Khurana is a Clinical Psychologist with experience supporting children, young people and adults across a range of NHS mental health and specialist services. She has had the privilege of working with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

Simi has experience working with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as psychosis, including distressing or unusual experiences and worries about safety or trust in others (paranoia). Her experience also includes working with neurodivergent individuals and people with learning disabilities, recognising the importance of adapting therapy to different needs, abilities and ways of communicating.

Simi draws on a range of evidence-based psychological approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and trauma-focused interventions. She recognises that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and works collaboratively with each person to develop a shared understanding of their difficulties, tailoring therapy to their individual needs, values and goals.

Simi is has particularly passionate about improving access to psychological therapy and reducing barriers that can prevent people from receiving the support they need. She recognises that these barriers can take many forms, including cultural and social expectations, communication differences and the accessibility of traditional therapy approaches. She has shaped her commitment to making psychological support more inclusive, flexible and responsive to people’s individual circumstances, including through her interest in digitally supported psychological interventions.

Simi believes that everyone has their own story, shaped by their experiences, relationships, culture and the world around them. She approaches her work with warmth, compassion, and curiosity, taking time to understand the person behind the difficulties, rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses. Above all, she values building genuine, trusting relationships and creating a space where people feel heard, understood and comfortable being themselves.
