Dr Salim Koroma is a Clinical Psychologist who works with adults and young people living with the impact of trauma and complex PTSD, survivors of domestic abuse and gender-based violence, and mothers and fathers navigating the perinatal period. He also supports people experiencing relational difficulties, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation and major life transitions.
Salim is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive NHS and community mental health experience supporting people with complex psychological needs across children’s, adult, learning disability and older adult services. His work includes psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention, with particular experience in trauma-informed care, risk assessment and multidisciplinary working.
Trauma is at the heart of Salim’s practice. He has delivered individual trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for people experiencing complex PTSD, and has facilitated psychological groups focused on emotional regulation, symptom management, mindfulness and psychoeducation. He is committed to supporting survivors of domestic abuse and gender-based violence, and to the mental health of both mothers and fathers in the perinatal period.
Salim’s approach is also shaped by substantial community work. As Co-Founder and Programme Manager of a mental health and community development organisation in Sierra Leone, he has developed psychologically informed programmes on emotional literacy, resilience, behaviour change and psychosocial wellbeing for young people.
Salim has a particular passion for working with diversity. He pays careful attention to how intersectionality, including identity, culture, background and lived experience, shapes how individuals and families understand their difficulties, engage in the therapeutic relationship and experience change. He works in a flexible, trauma-sensitive way, drawing on a range of evidence-based models so that therapy is tailored to each person’s needs.
He is committed to creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe enough to be their authentic selves, and supported enough to work collaboratively towards the change that matters most to them. Salim is passionate about empowering people to explore their experiences, rebuild their sense of self and reconnect with what matters most to them. His aim is to help clients not only heal from trauma but also move towards a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling.
