Dr Iona Lewis-Smith is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with experience across child and adolescent mental health, neurodevelopmental services and eating disorder settings. Her background includes work with young people and families alongside a strong research interest in psychological wellbeing, values and social relationships.

A central strand of Iona’s work has focused on autism and social wellbeing. Her doctoral research explored how autistic adults experience social relationships and how these relationships relate to wellbeing and quality of life, reflecting a wider interest in understanding psychological health through the person’s social world rather than symptoms alone.

She also brings experience from CAMHS eating disorder and neurodevelopmental services, as well as earlier work within general psychological services. Her academic work has additionally examined adolescent depression, personal values and young people’s experiences of behavioural activation therapy, giving her a particular interest in how meaningful activity, relationships and individual values can support psychological wellbeing.

Iona’s perspective is thoughtful and individual-focused, with attention to the things that matter to the person beyond a diagnostic label. Her work is informed by an interest in wellbeing, identity, relationships and the role that personally meaningful goals can play in psychological change.
